WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis manages the strategic direction, planning, development, and execution of strategic and financial planning processes. They will be responsible for managing research and analysis for strategic projects, including new business initiatives and M&A opportunities. S/he leads the preparation of ad hoc presentations and analysis for the Santander’s executive management team, focusing on the Consumer and Business Banking division. S/he will have direct P/L management and business case development responsibilities for the bank’s key Marketing and Digital initiatives. S/he manages a team that actively contributes to the success of these strategic initiatives and works directly with business leaders to lead business case preparation, implementation, and performance tracking of key initiatives.

  • Sources and analyzes key data for the execution of ad hoc analytical projects aimed at understanding and improving the Company's profitability.

  • Leads teams in preparation of financial analysis, strategic reviews, pro forma modeling, etc.

  • Conducts research and analysis to provide executive management with support and advice for their use in setting and realizing profit objectives. Detail oriented with ability to research, organize, and analyze financial data.

  • Evaluates M&A opportunities to improve scale and competitive positioning

  • Leads development of presentations, executive summaries and ad-hoc analysis for executive management to support development of strategic plans and initiatives.

  • Builds relationships with business line and functional leaders to support strategy development and special projects.

  • Reviews and communicates an analysis of month-end results for standard financial and business review meetings.

  • Recruits, trains, develops, motivates, sets goals, and provides on-going feedback to a team of direct reports.

  • Bachelor's Degree; Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or equivalent field.

  • Master's Degree; Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Statistics or equivalent field equivalent work experience

  • 12+ years; Investment Banking, Consulting, FP&A or similar field

  • Understanding of bank balance sheet management and capital requirements, and knowledge of financial analysis and valuation concepts.

  • Experience with financial forecasting and sensitivity analysis

  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data that is visually appealing and effectively tells a clear story.

  • Ability to develop business cases and financial cost-benefit analysis.

  • Ability to focus on details while understanding the big picture; prioritize tasks and projects.

  • Ability to lead a team of financial analysts / FP&A professionals.

  • CFA designation not required, but a bonus.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient data skills; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint). Hyperion Planning experience preferred not required.
