The role of the Executive Director of Player Personnel and Recruiting is to oversee, develop and implement the strategic plans of the recruiting efforts of the Michigan State Football program. This position will work closely in collaboration with the Head Football Coach, Assistant Coaches, and support staff to evaluate prospective student-athletes and determine best practice to recruit them to the program. This position reports directly to the Director of Football Operations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to recruit top student-athletes
  • Supervise all aspects of the program’s administrative and operational duties for recruiting, including in the areas of player personnel, recruiting, recruiting creative and roster management
  • Supervise the day-to-day personnel operations of the program including but not limited to: roster management, roster evaluation process, prospect evaluation process, recruiting board and database organization, and oversight of player personnel staff
  • Supervise the day-to-day recruiting operations of the program including but not limited to: campus visits (official and unofficial), prospect communication, prospect admissions, coaches recruiting travel, reconciliation of recruiting expenses, and oversight of recruiting staff
  • Act as the liaison between the recruiting department and all MSU departments outside of the football program directly effecting the daily operations of the department including but not limited to: athletic administration, athletic communications, compliance, spartan vision, student-athlete support services and student-athlete engagement and NIL education.
  • Ensure program compliance with university, athletic department, Big Ten Conference and NCAA rules, regulations, and policies
  • Coordinate NFL education program and Pro Day
  • Coordinate walk-on tryouts
  • Assist with football NIL relations in coordination with the Director of Player Engagement and Program Relations
  • Assist with the organization and operation of football summer camps
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach

Bachelors

Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree and at least two years’ experience overseeing the recruiting efforts of a collegiate or professional athletics organization
  • Ability to work a non-standard work schedule
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees, students, student-athletes and fans
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Catapult (XOS), Hudl, ARMs
