The position defines and drives the device, primary container & packaging technology and innovation strategy. The Director will partner with other Strategy & Deployment leads for intake of business needs, challenges, and priorities for MSAT and works directly with the drug platforms on deployment of new technology and innovation on new-product-introductions (NPI) and life-cycle-management (LCM). The position is linked to our R&D partners as well as other leadership with the purpose of establishing a packaging, primary container, and device technology roadmap for key new products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creation of innovation and technology strategies for devices, primary containers & packaging
- Participates in the business planning strategy in partnership with manufacturing leadership and translates the overall business goals into MSAT objectives
- Provides expertise on global NPIs through collaborations with Technical Launch Integrators on end-to-end technical product sourcing evaluations and product strategy roadmaps
- Partners with emerging technology leaders to guide the intake of new technologies and develops and deploys technology standards through assets and products in collaboration with partners.
- Works hand in hand with MSAT device & packaging resources on implementation of new technologies while providing evaluation to the product life-cycle management of devices & packaging.
- Ensures packaging and device plan is aligned across all platforms and meets sustainability aspirations
- Provides technological recommendations in accordance with new regulations and monitors technological progressions through a strong external network and industry connections.
- Partners with R&D for device and packaging strategy and new development platforms.
Qualifications
Education:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in science or engineering is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- A minimum 10 years of working experience with packaging technology, device, and primary container for pharmaceutical products is required.
Preferred:
- Strong theoretical and practical expertise with packaging and devices, passionate about engineering, new product development, manufacturing processes, materials aspects & packaging.
- Comprehensive in-depth knowledge of the workings of supply chains with respect to products, customers, suppliers, and plants combined with a strong understanding of business drivers and financials is beneficial.
- Proven understanding of Quality & Compliance and well as regulatory requirement and Environment Health Safety and Sustainability is preferred.
- Prior experience leading cross functionally and cross-platform project team with the ability to handle complexity and change and interact at various levels of the organization such as Sr. Management is desirable.
- The candidate should be capable to work through challenging situations, while resolving conflicting interests, and ensuring continued project progression.
- A proven record of crafting cohesive and well performing project teams, with active and inclusive work styles is a plus.

- Requires up to 25% travel, domestic and international
- The anticipated base pay range for the position is $157,200 to $235,800. The base salary range listed is based on a US pay scale and may be adjusted based on the successful candidate’s geographic location.
