Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Create, foster, and strengthen team strategic and operating plans, structures and processes to form a consistent platform for performance, improvement, and implementation of organizational plans and strategic direction
- Support and engage our animal and client services teams using our supervisory processes, people-centered approach, and values from hiring, training, and onboarding through their tenure
- Embrace and demonstrate WHS’s people-centered philosophy in which we partner with people to fulfill our mission using a welcoming, supportive, and non-judgmental approach.
- Collaborate with department, campus, and organizational leadership to maintain alignment of people, processes, and team functions, including an active role within the organizational Operations Team
- Consistently and positively communicate organizational and department strategic direction, priorities, values, and key information
- Ensure excellent customer service focused on maintaining and improving relationships in all aspects of our client-related work
- Implement, monitor and maintain organizationally-defined animal care and client service standards
- Generate and implement campus-specific standards and procedures as necessary
- Monitor animal population and ensure that animals are moving efficiently from intake to outcome
- Oversee scheduling, supervision, and support for daily staff activities; assist staff in managing and prioritizing daily tasks
- Use WHS supervisors’ tools to develop performance and professional growth of each direct report
- Monitor all aspects of respective department budget
Qualifications
- Prior supervisory experience; experience working in a shelter preferred
- Excellent problem-solving, time management, and written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and inspire great performance
- Commitment to the mission, values, goals, and people-centered philosophy of WHS
- Ability to balance the needs of the organization with the needs of staff, animals, and clients
- Ability to demonstrate or learn animal handling techniques that maintain safety while minimizing fear, anxiety, and stress
- Ability to work Monday through Friday at the Ozaukee campus, with nights and weekends as needed
