Primary Responsibilities:

The Food Service Director is dedicated to providing the highest quality of services in a loving and safe environment for all of our residents, while helping each of them to achieve their maximum potential. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Direct menu planning using The Pointe’s hospitality and service guidelines to meet the needs and desires of the resident population.
  • Maintain efficiency of food preparation while meeting or exceeding The Pointe’s hospitality and service standards.
  • Manage the departments purchasing program in efficient and effective manner; establish procedures for receiving food, supplies and proper storage.
  • Establish effective relationships with other departments and communicate information regarding products and services.
  • Regularly evaluate all food service areas for quality – dining room, room service, plate appearance, etc.
  • Visit with residents to evaluate food service perception, analyze feedback, and take corrective action when necessary to promote high quality food service.
  • Conduct internal quality assurance audits on all aspects of food service on an ongoing basis as directed by The Pointe’s standards.
  • Direct food service department’s safety and loss prevention program; monitor adherence to safety rules and regulation and implement corrective action when necessary.
  • Responsible for inventory control and establishing efficient and effective inventory systems.
  • Responsible for recruitment and selection of all employees in the food service department.
  • Ensure adequate and effective orientation and training of all food service employees in their specific job duties.
  • Provide staff with ongoing and timely feedback regarding job performance.
  • Ensure all food service personnel comply with The Pointe’s uniform, hygiene, and health standards.
  • Responsible for scheduling adequate staffing coverage to meet the food service needs of the residents.
  • Participate and assist in coordinating special events with the Activity and Marketing Departments.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • At least (2) year management experience.
  • One (1) year in senior housing.
  • Must Maintain Servsafe Certification.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to delegate assignments to the appropriate individuals based on their skills, roles, and interests.
  • Competent in organizational & time management skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, and Excel) with the ability to learn new applications.
  • Must have compassion and empathy for and desire to work with seniors.
  • Ability to utilize and apply basic management principles.
  • Self-directed, demonstrating initiative and follow-through.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to timely and effectively follow up on all necessary requests from residents and families.
  • Maintain and encourage a positive work atmosphere by communicating in a manner that fosters cooperation.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to recognize and communicate problems with Executive Director.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, talk and hear. The employee will occasionally be required to climb stairs. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to touch, handle and feel, and is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
