JOB DESCRIPTION | SUMMARY:

The Director of Housing oversees all administrative and operational functions of student housing at Cleary University. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, fiscal oversight, recruitment, marketing, and student programming. The Director of Housing works collaboratively with all campus departments and community partners. This position is a live on campus and must reside on campus. The Director of Housing will require nights and weekends at various times of the year.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate housing staff.
  • Supervision of Resident Assistant, training, etc.
  • Oversight of rooms assignments, weekly reports, strategic student housing plans.
  • Implement goals and priorities that align with the college’s mission and Strategic Plan.
  • Maintain operational functions, including but not limited to key distribution and collection, damage assessment, reporting, purchasing, maintenance requests, hall openings and closings, and duty-rotation schedules.
  • Guide the development and execution of residential life curriculum and student programming within the residential community.
  • Serve as a conduct officer, track violations of the housing handbook, and maintain records.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of students with varying abilities and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Marketing for publications, marketing, and recruitment materials. Update web site information pertaining to housing.
  • Provide fiscal oversight by managing the operating and capital budgets which includes development of annual budget proposals.
  • Management of meal plans, keys cards and room assignments.
  • Participate in recruitment events and New Student Orientations to support the residential community.
  • Oversight of student housing for summer camps and conferences.
  • Require a regular workday with additional responsibilities in the evenings, on weekends and on college break days as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor within the scope of this position.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required from four-year college or university.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of risk management and crisis response related to student housing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience with evidence of increasing levels of responsibilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills including verbal and written.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce, Maxient software, Microsoft Office, Jenzabar, etc.

Residence Coordinator, Student Housing Graduate Assistant, Resident Assistants and Student employees as applicable
