We are growing and looking to hire a Director, Pickleball Partnerships to lead our high-energy Brand Partnerships team focused on the fastest growing sport in the world - Pickleball. The Director, Pickleball Partnerships will have a variety of exciting responsibilities driving continued growth. This role’s main priority will be the creation, management and optimization of a variety of Franklin Sports’ brand partnership agreements across the following categories: Professional Athlete Relationships & Product Development, Pro Tour Sponsorships, Official Ball Affiliations (premier tournaments, venues, governing bodies & retailers), Collaborations with non-competitive brands & organizations, Youth Participation and Fan Development Programming and more. You will be the main liaison internally with the product, sales, marketing, digital marketing, e-commerce, social media and international teams to ensure a cohesive brand strategy both domestically and globally.
The ideal candidate should have deep knowledge of the professional sports industry, in particular the racquet sports area. Experience working closely with and managing professional athletes is a requirement. A proven history of negotiating successful partnerships as well as contracts is also needed. This individual will need to have the ability to juggle several priorities at once and will need to be able to work independently but also be able to lead our Partnership team.
This position is located at our Headquarters in Stoughton, MA with a hybrid office option and will report to the VP of Marketing #FranklinFamily
Detailed Responsibilities:
- Lead pickleball brand partnerships/sports marketing team in all aspects of strategic business development, pro-athlete roster, marketing, event activation, “official” sponsorships/partnerships, influencers, social media, branding, advertising, reputation and category narrative
- Work in unison with internal leadership (sales, product, marketing, partnerships) to create, implement and own the execution of long-term Franklin Pickleball brand strategy
- Lead and collaborate on pro-player roster selection, lead contract negotiation and manage department on day-to-day partnership management.
- Lead, manage, train and evaluate Partnership team
- Mentor and grow the Pickleball Partnership team into future leaders
- Manage Professional Player relationships on a day-to-day basis.
- Establish and maintain strong pickleball industry relationships to assist in exponentially growing Franklin’s retail market share of pickleball product lines
- Spearhead negotiations and execution of Franklin’s sponsorship & marketing presence on the Pro Pickleball Circuits (PPA, MLP, APP, USA Pickleball Road to Nationals & National Championships, US Open Championships &TBD)
- Diligently manage entire pickleball category budget
- Own key relationships, communications and industry knowledge with the sport’s governing body, pro-tour executives, tournament directors, player-agents, venues, event directors, non-competitive corporate partners in the space
- Present quarterly sports-marketing briefs to president & senior leadership as-requested
- Participate and contribute to key-account sales meetings as requested to help communicate Franklin Pickleball’s brand story at retail
- Travel to select pickleball events, tournaments, tradeshows, venues, meetings (business development/sales)
- Other projects as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 10+ years of sports marketing experience/leadership with and emphasis on racquet/paddle sports
- Relevant experience with a Sporting Goods and/or Apparel/Footwear brand
- Experience working with high-level sports organizations and professional athletes
- Proven experience managing a team

- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the calendar year via car, plane, automobile, train

- Interact independently with internal and external parties, has the knowledge to make independent business decisions.
