The GPS BIA team (Global Product Development and Supply Business Insights and Analytics) partners with the BMS GPS organization to answer key business questions that drive business strategy using advanced data analytics and data science.

The Director, Supply Chain Analytics will lead the development of analytical tools and derive business insights to optimize BMS’ near-term commercial supply strategies for the Pharma and Biologics supply chains in support of the Global Supply Chain (GSC) organization. The Director will also lead the development and execution of analytics roadmaps for clinical supply chain, market supply operations and logistics & distribution. This leader will work to understand and contribute to the development of GSC strategy and priorities, ensuring integration of analytics capabilities across GSC, develop strong partnerships with GSC, and recruit/develop high performing team to deliver on the analytics roadmap.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develops and drives the analytics strategy/roadmaps in support of near-term supply strategies for Pharma, Biologics, local market supply operations and logistics & distribution.

  • Identifies and contextualizes analytics / insights for critical business questions, working to embed an independent/objective point of view into GSC.

  • Drives the application of fact-based decision making for GSC through analytics and insights.

  • Works to increase the analytical sophistication of the GSC organization by recommending and brining best in class (including cross industry) capabilities, recommending process changes to be digitally driven, advocating for good data practices.

  • Develops and launches optimization, simulation technology and predictive capabilities in support of a more robust supply chain.

  • Develops & executes data enablement roadmap in support of the GSC business analytics needs in collaboration with IT.

  • Oversees and manages a team of 3-4 internal data scientists and 1-2 consultants supporting analytics solutions

  • Partners with the demand planning team within BIA Enterprise Strategy & Performance to provide perspective and impact of the demand scenarios to GSC and associated risk/opportunities with scenarios.

  • Partners with Operating Units Analytics & Strategy & Business Excellence Analytics teams to align supply chain analytics to functional area analytics needs.

  • Proactively measures and communicates value generation from analytics deliveries within GPS, BIA and GBO.

  • Ensures best practice adoption within stated areas of responsibility, applying appropriate levels of technical capability, standardization and subject matter expertise.

  • Proactively manages planned and ad hoc analytics requests, ensuring appropriate prioritization, consistent quality and timeliness in delivery to business stakeholders.

  • Leverages standards for the provision of analytics to support planning and decision making processes and utilizes appropriate escalation processes.

  • Provides input/feedback to direct reports and works actively to improve and enhance capabilities related to the SC Analytics team.

  • Drives a culture of analytics and fact-based decision making through the utilization of standard methodologies and approaches.

Requirements

  • Masters or PhD in analytical / quantitative field (i.e. predictive sciences, statistics, engineering, computer science) & 7+ years of experience using analysis or advanced analytics to address business problems

  • Proven and experienced:

    • Leader of teams who can adapt analytics for business context

    • In applied analytics for solving business problems including experience developing frameworks around analytical methods for teams in supply chain and operations research.

    • With the application of predictive modeling, simulation and / or optimization to business problems

    • Developing strong partnerships with senior management (SVP, VP, ED levels), understanding, anticipating, and fulfilling their insight/analytical information requirements

    • Operating successfully in a complex organizational environment

    • Masters or PhD in analytical / quantitative field (i.e. predictive sciences, statistics, engineering, computer science) & 7+ years of experience using analysis or advanced analytics to address business problems

    • Communicates effectively to senior leadership audiences of varying degrees of familiarity with analytics.

    • Conceptualizes business problems and develops frameworks around analytical methods for teams

    • Experienced project manager.

    • Experienced people developer.
