Driver/Mail Service Assistant Job at New York University
Position Summary: Batch and sort miscellaneous mail and prepare for pick up/delivery in a timely and efficient manner. Operate an NYU vehicle assigned for the incoming and outgoing distribution of miscellaneous mail and parcels between city-wide NYU facilities. Adhere to all traffic and safety policies & regulations. Sort a variety of incoming and interoffice mail and parcels for delivery and U.S. postal destinations. Maintain computerized mail records. Qualifications: Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Experience:
1+ years related work experience
Preferred Experience:
1+ years driving larger vehicles (trucks, vans, etc.) in a metropolitan area with heavy traffic.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Valid driver's license (from your state of residence). Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, lift and carry heavy materials (average weight will range from 30 to 40 pounds) from facility to vehicle to delivery destination. Must be able to lift mail parcels and hand truck/carts onto and off of vehicle. Work according to schedule timelines.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
General computer skills and light typing for email or other written communication.
Additional Information: In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $32.143. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts.
