GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for the transportation and supervision of assigned clients to and/or from the facility, drive box truck pickup and deliver customer materials, maintain company vehicles, light facility maintenance.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Transport individuals who are served by The Arc of Volusia to and/or from the agency.

· Make sure all individuals/passengers are secured in a seat belt.

· Understand how to redirect client behaviors on the van.

· Van drivers are to stay with the van until ALL individuals/passengers have exited the vehicle.

· Make recommendations for vehicle maintenance such as brakes, tires and inspections being due.

· May drive vehicles to garage for repairs.

· Check vehicles fire extinguisher and first aid kit regularly.

· Maintain daily mileage and attendance log.

· Reports all accidents and vehicle damage immediately.

· General vehicle upkeep such as cleaning the inside and outside of company vehicles.

· Thoroughly read and comprehend The Arc of Volusia’s Vehicle Use Policy.

· Pickup/deliver contract materials from customers loading and unloading box truck using lift gate, pallet jack and hand truck as directed.

· Assist with light facility maintenance at both Daytona and DeLand locations as directed.

· Complete other duties as necessary.

EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS:

· Must have a valid Driver’s License, have a clean driving record and be insurable.

· Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

· Must be able to pass a level 2 background and drug screening as required by regulation.

· Must be able to drive box truck, move materials by operating lift gate, operating pallet jack, operating hand truck.

· Must be able to use tools and equipment for light facility and vehicle maintenance.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

· Good communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

· Ability to position and move individuals.

· Ability to transport and move materials using pallet jack and hand truck.

· Ability to work indoors and/or outdoors doing facility/vehicle maintenance.

· Must be able to sit in a vehicle for about 2-3 hours at a time.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and other agencies and individuals to help develop and follow agency procedures and collaborative services.

· Ability to work with persons with disabilities and diverse people of all ages, without regard to sex, race, religion or socioeconomic level.

· Ability to work with minimal supervision.

· The desire to assist people with disabilities.

Pay: $14.00 - $19.00 per hour
