The echo technician (ET) will perform a variety of echocardiographic studies in the echo diagnostic department, patient care units, and the intensive care unit. ET will provide measurement and image data to the Cardiologists for interpretation. The ET shall perform procedures with intermittent supervisory and proficiency checks by the Department Dire
Responsibilities:

  • Verifying patient clinical history and health status, evaluating related tests and images
  • Communicating comfortably and clearly with patient to explain the procedure, answer questions and relay information about what to expect during the procedure
  • Communicating any concerns to the referring or interpreting physician as needed prior to the planned ultrasound procedure
  • Consulting with medical professionals and independently assessing any possible need to adapt the planned procedure to achieve optimal results
  • Administering contrast media through an intravenous line as needed after receiving appropriate approval
  • Upholding quality patient care standards as professionally defined before, during and after the procedure
  • Operating the ultrasound equipment and analyzing findings in real time during the examination to ensure optimal data is obtained
  • Physically moving or assisting the movement of the patient as necessary to ensure comfort, a successful procedure and minimal patient exposure to high-frequency sound waves
  • Evaluating ultrasound exam results to identify expected and unexpected outcomes given the procedure plan as well as whether appropriate test guidelines and protocols were followed
  • Identifying and documenting unexpected results that may indicate the need for further testing or immediate medical attention
  • Completing ultrasound technician worksheet calculations, thus making a final report for the physician.
  • Must adhere to safety protocols at all times.
  • Implement DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit behaviors consistent with DRH core values.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the department Director.

Requirements:Minimum Qualifications: **Must have obtained or earned at least a 2-year Associate's degree in cardiovascular technology.
Education and/or Experience: Registered Diagnostic Cardiography Sonographer (RDCS) or if registry eligible must commit to becoming registered within one (1) year of employment.
Must be a graduate of an accredited echocardiography program or equivalent on the job training.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: **Current license from the Board of Medical Licensure & Supervision for the State of Oklahoma.

**This position requires respirator and fit testing. Required testing will be performed on all team members at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet producing procedures, or any caustic chemicals.
