Play a vital role in Hack Club’s nonprofit mission to create a “hacker generation” these are millions of young people with technical skills, a positive, curious mindset, and a network of like-minded friends from all backgrounds.

Hack Clubis a nonprofit education organization, founded by high-school dropout/coder Zach Lattaand run by a team of young, highly-creative engineers, overseeing a global network of tens of thousands of teen coders in the US and around the world.

We are looking for a smart, compassionate, engineering leader to make all of Hack Club’s goals (to be technical, to have leadership skills, to have a network of friends) work for girls. Hack Club is engineer-led, and half of our staff is younger than 25. We are well supported by philanthropists, including a number of West Coast-based engineer-founders.

Our content features regularly atop Hacker News, and on GitHub Education’s blog + we've already been featured in Wall Street Journal, CBS News, and other newspapers. We have a presence on Twitter/ YouTube/ GitHuband have had content go viral.

You’ll report to the co-founder, Christina Asquith, a former journalist. Over her career, she has produced a TIME Magazine cover, a NYT op-doc, landed the front page of Hacker News, created viral tweets/YouTube videos.

In this role you would:

  • Make Hack Club the most welcoming place for teenager female hackers on the internet
  • Co-found and spearhead our efforts to make Hack Club’s community and resources accessible to low income teenagers across the country through unique partnerships like with Girl Scouts councils
  • Support cofounder in pushing forward partnerships and events with Girl Scouts, Girls Who Code, Black Girls Code and Kode with Klossy, as well as other organizations
  • You would also help create events with leaders in industry to inspire our hackers.
  • Conceptualize and execute on a highly technical project to build in public with our community of teenagers, past projects have been a VPN, a guide to Assembly, and a math game.
  • Run a small team of Hack Club interns.
  • Listen to community members, and support them to execute on their ideas.

You’ll be great for this role if you have:

  • A background in programming and building things
  • Passion for building technical projects and find tinkering fun.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and can lead a team of students to push forward new initiative
  • Worked with teenagers and are excited to work 1:1 with them every day.
  • Technical skills and work at a fast pace.
  • Played an important role in an online community when you were a teenager.
  • Embody the values of a model Hack Clubber: collaborative, kind, high integrity, helpful, and curious.
  • The traits of a wonderful friend: always encouraging, genuinely want to see students learn and figure out things on their own, excited to answer questions, and always wanting to help students find their own course of action.

To work at Hack Club, you need to have a background in programming, but you should be inspired by making things fun.

Pay, hours, and benefits:

  • SALARY: Competitive and negotiable
  • Full-time, flexible hours Monday through Friday
  • In-person position in Shelburne, Vermont
