EDUCATION GRANT SPECIALIST - ELMIRA Job at Greater Southern Tier BOCES
LOCATION: ELMIRA,NY
Full-time (1.0 FTE), 8 hour day, 12 months per year; Competitive Civil Service Position
Work involves responsibility for proposal writing; developing, procuring, and monitoring of competitive and non-competitive grant funds available to participating school districts. Job duties include:
- Searching for and identifying potential sources of grant funds
- Facilitating the grant planning process
- Linking program partners
- Developing complex budgets
- Completing grant application materials
- Providing support for fiscal management of grant-funded programs
- Building relationships with funders
- Managing required outreach and developing budgets with non-public schools
- Working with NYSED Program Offices to troubleshoot queries related to submitted applications and budgets to ensure timely approval
- Supporting districts during NYSED monitoring reviews and desk audits
- Carrying out all other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
This is a competitive Civil Service position. The selected candidate must be among the top three of the Educational Grant Specialist Civil Service Certificate of Eligibles List, if not currently holding the title.
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s Degree and two (2) years of professional level work experience, or its part-time equivalent involving the development, administration, implementation, or analysis of programs, projects, or curriculum (including teaching); or
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of professional level work experience, or its part-time equivalent involving the development, administration, implementation, or analysis of programs, projects, or curriculum (including teaching).
- Good knowledge of grants preparation, project management, educational principles and practices; working knowledge of the sources for funding in the area of the public, corporations, funding foundations and similar institutions; working knowledge of the principles and practices used in grants proposal applications and the administration of the grant; ability to gather and analyze data, draw conclusions from, obtain data and present in a logical, concise manner both verbally and in written narrative format; ability to prepare detailed reports and to support recommendations; ability to facilitate meetings and conduct interviews for the purpose of obtaining information and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, private, corporate, industry and not-for-profit agencies and their representatives; ability to read, understand, and prepare complex written material, including budgets; ability to express oneself effectively both orally and in writing; resourcefulness; creativity; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
