Job Description:
This position performs skilled work at an advanced journeyman level. Position installs and performs maintenance on electrical distribution systems from 120 volts to 13,800 volt systems at LSU Campus, South Campus, and all Farms and Research Stations.
Job Duties:
20%- Installs, splices and maintains underground cables from 120 volts to 13,800 volts.
20%- Installs and maintains high voltage switches and transformer banks
20%- Troubleshoots high voltage problems, repairs and replaces damaged high voltage cables, duct banks, switches and transformers.
20%- Installs and repairs street and security lighting 120, 208, and 277 volt lights on the LSU Campus and surrounding property belonging to LSU.
20%- Installs and repairs control circuits, motors, and miscellaneous electrical circuits at the main
boiler/chiller plant on campus and other assigned locations. Reads, interprets and works from prints and electrical circuit diagrams. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of experience in the electrical trade.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training in the electrical trade will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience on a month for month basis.

Special or Physical Qualifications:
Due to the nature of this position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67.
In accordance with PS-18 this position may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and pull wire, climb stairs, stoop, squat, kneel and bend their back.
