GENERAL INFORMATION

Salary Grade: $35.00 per hour

Site/Location: Perrymont, RS Payne, Bedford Hills Elementary Schools
Reports to: Elementary Summer Principal
Date: June 13 - July 14, 2023

POSITION SUMMARY

  • Certified teachers with leadership experience to serve as instructional coaches in our summer programs. Coaches provide individualized support and feedback to classroom teachers and teaching assistants to improve overall instruction in ELA and math and student engagement and achievement.
    • Must be able to attend Administrator Training Day on March 7, 2023
    • Staff Training Dates for Summer - June 7 and June 8, mandatory
    • 40 hours of paid pre-program planning hours
    • Other duties as assigned by administrator/supervisor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with various stakeholders, including students,
  • families, staff, and division colleagues.
  • Ability to identify staff learning needs, and design and deliver appropriate individualized or group professional development and coaching to meet needs.
  • Analyze assessment data to inform instruction and instructional groupings
  • Ability to use data to inform student groupings and differentiate instruction.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and adjust and adapt instructional strategies swiftly given the short duration of summer programs.
  • Evidence of efficacy and willingness to be a team player.
  • Conduct classroom observations to ensure proper implementation of curriculum, instructional practices, and classroom/behavior management
  • Provide feedback to staff on instructional practices
  • Review lesson plans and other instructional support tools, provide timely feedback, and create and maintain “best practice” instructional strategies and resources for staff
  • Review and analyze diagnostic and on-going formal assessment data with teaching staff and develop appropriate instructional groups
  • Coach staff on continuing use of assessments and assessment data to adjust instruction and instructional groupings
  • Coach and support staff in the implementation of data-driven and differentiated instructional practices in both literacy and mathematics
  • Ensure uniformity and timeliness of assessments and family reporting

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid state teaching certification; minimum of 3 years teaching experience
  • Previous and relevant experience in utilizing and implementing data-driven instructional practices
  • Experience working in an elementary school environment
