This role reports into the Vice President of Technology and Business Development. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the technical staffs’ (scientists and engineers) daily activities as well as the expansion of the company’s Engineering Center.

The primary responsibilities of this position include supervision, problem solving, project expansion, and product design to meet the company’s objectives and long-term goals. Concentration of product development will be in instrumentation for various applications of radiation detection, from portable devices to large systems, especially medical (SPECT/gamma cameras, PET, PCCT), industrial, and scientific applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering expertise in the areas of system electronics, mechanical product design, packaging/housing assembly, product specifications, and reliability.
  • Manage product design from conception to execution.
  • Develop and direct procedures and methods to ensure quality meets customer specification, market demands, and industrial standards.
  • Recommend methods, materials, and other resources for improvement based on prototype and manufacturing needs and capabilities.
  • Build, develop, and manage technical team (scientists and engineers) capable of carrying out needed engineering initiatives.
  • Manage and build on-going bill of materials (BOM).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

A minimum of five years’ experience in the following areas:

  • Technical supervision and management experience required.
  • Experience designing imaging systems, scanners, and portable radiation detectors is required.
  • Experience with radiation detector device physics, instrumentation electronics, and device simulation.
  • Medical device and imaging system development experience highly desirable.
  • Experience with other instrumentation product development from conception to full commercialization.
  • Experience with CAD/engineering drawing.
  • Material and device characterization experience a big plus.
  • Proficient knowledge of software and firmware.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • A hands-on individual who works well in a team environment.

Education:

Master’s or PhD in Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.

Location:

Vital Materials Engineering Center is in a 62,000 sq fit facility in Bowling Green, Ohio

  • Working onsite at the Engineering Center is required.

Travel:

Occasional domestic and international travel possible.
