Midland Basin Overview
ConocoPhillips holds approximately 376,000 total net acres in the Midland Basin, which includes approximately 266,000 unconventional net acres located in the heart of West Texas. Following the Concho acquisition, the company now operates over 2,200 vertical wells and 930 horizontal wells across Midland, Upton, Andrews, Martin, and Glasscock counties.
In 2021, the company operated five drilling rigs and brought 102 operated wells online. Net production in 2021 averaged 136 MBOED, with approximately 70% of production from liquids.

Description
If you are selected as the Engineering Technician, you will support the Drilling organization in data management. You will ensure that accurate well data is available and in a usable format so that others can make relevant planning and operational decisions.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Maintaining quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) WellView Database
- Supporting Drilling Rig Supervisors to ensure they have full understanding of WellView
- Maintaining performance metrics for the group as well as preparing data for internal and external benchmarking studies
- Monitoring daily costs and ensuring items are correctly coded in WellView report and SAP
- Providing monthly drilling and completion reports on HSE statistics, cost, and performance
- Assisting in the preparation of post well reports
- Providing data analysis support to the engineering staff
- When fully trained in WellView, Drilling Tech will become a member of the Lower 48 WellView support team
Basic/Required:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee
- 3+ years of direct experience with drilling and completion operation
- Intermediate level of proficiency using Wellview
Preferred:
- Associate's degree or higher in Engineering Technology or foreign equivalent
- Knowledge of SAP
- Knowledge of INTELEX
- Knowledge of databases and ability to navigate to, search for, and sort data
- Proficient (perform the skill with limited assistance) with MS PowerPoint and Access
- Ability to create/build Spotfire Reports using data from multiple databases
- Ability to work with minimal direction and a high degree of initiative
- Takes ownership of actions and follows through on dedications by holding others accountable and standing up for what's right
- Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
- Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
