The Method 21 monitoring technician is a key position within Alliance Emissions Monitoring. Method 21 technicians are the first line of defense in keeping our facilities in compliance with federal and state requirements.

Responsibilities:

The Method 21 technician will be responsible for the duties listed below:

• Monitoring and troubleshooting the TVA
• Calibration of TVA (entering data into handheld & in calibration book)
• Performing drift assessments (entering data into calibration book)
• Precision calibrations (performing & documenting proper paper work)
• Monitoring per Method 21 (number of components monitored per day will vary)
• Documenting changes (size, type, location, sequence changes)
• Reporting Audio Visual Olfactory (AVO), Note Plug (NP), & Open Ended Line (OEL) to Site Supervisor (SS) and Operations
• Noting Missing Tags (MT) on handheld device and/or reporting large amount of Missing Tags (MT) to Site Supervisor (SS)
• Noting Drill &Taps in handheld device
• Reporting new or removed components to Site Supervisor (SS)
• Completing Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
• Completing daily paper work (job summary, change forms, retire forms, walk down forms, leak sheets, blue tags, etc.,)

Description Detail:

Calibration, Drifts, Precision Calibrations & Method 21 Monitoring – Alliance Emissions Monitoring will train you to monitor per Method 21 and make repairs to your equipment to keep it in compliance. As a Method 21 technician, you are responsible to ensure that your equipment meets or exceeds the equipment standards set. You will calibrate your TVA on a daily basis; it is your responsibility to report any issues with your equipment. Your Site Supervisor (SS) is there to help and train you if you have any questions or issues. You will be audited on a regular basis to ensure you are meeting or exceeding federal guidelines, state guidelines, and Alliance Emissions Monitoring standards. This will include but is not limited to: Method 21 audits, Quality Control (QC) tags, Technical Data Sheet (TDS) review, change form audits, etc., …

Documentation & Reporting – As a Method 21 technician, you are the first line of defense for Alliance Emissions Monitoring and the facility that you work in. It is your job to note and make changes in the field when possible. New components, Open Ended Line (OEL) and Missing Tags (MT) could lead to possible deviations for our clients. If you are ever unsure of anything that you come across in the field, you must notify your Site Supervisor (SS) and he/she will be a liaison for you with the unit or proper personnel. It is one of your job duties to note and report any of the above listed items when they are found.

Daily Documentation – It is your responsibility to complete the daily paperwork that is assigned to you. This could include but is not limited to:

• Leak sheet
• Job summaries (number of components monitored, leaks found, hours on the job
• Change forms
• Retire forms
• Walk down forms
• Near miss forms
• Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)

Physical Requirements – Below is the list of the minimum physical requirements for all field technicians working for Alliance Emissions Monitoring throughout the refining/petrochemical industry.

• Stand/walk on feet for 10+ hours per day on uneven ground (concrete, rock, grass, mud/dirt, etc.)
• Carry 15-20 lbs. of equipment in backpack
• Walk, turn, bend, reach & pull body weight plus backpack weight throughout day
• Carry additional equipment throughout facilities, up to 100 lbs. (ladders, water coolers, additional monitoring equipment, etc.)
• Climb stairs & ladders throughout day, up to 300’+ throughout day
• Work in all variations of weather (extreme heat, cold, windy, etc.)

Primary Job

Employment with Alliance Emissions Monitoring should be considered primary over school and part-time job
