The Environmental Control Manager will support the environmental compliance program at Disney Signature Experiences (DSE), including the operations of Disney Cruise Line (DCL), Disney Vacation Club, Adventures & Expeditions, and Storyliving. You will monitor and verify compliance with international and U.S. regulations for waste stream discharges, including emissions, ballast water, sewage, gray water, and solid waste streams. You will conduct audits, inspections and spot checks to verify compliance with laws, procedures, and standards. You will develop and establish standard procedures and policies that enhance the environmental compliance program. You will develop and submit reports required by local, state, national and international agencies. You will verify environmental data and identify any areas requiring corrective action.
You will report to the Manager of Environmental Compliance.
Responsibilities
Fulfill responsibilities outlined in the Safety Management System
Develop and continuously improve environmental compliance processes and procedures required by international, national, Flag State and Port State organizations
Share technical knowledge regarding environmental compliance objectives with key partners
Support leadership decision making process to ensure compliance with environmental requirements
Develop and improve environmental compliance reporting procedures
Prepare reports for submission to a variety of international, national, Flag State and Port State organizations, including California Air Resources Board, Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, US Environmental Protection Agency, US Coast Guard, Bahamas Maritime Administration
Complete quality assurance for emissions reporting from ships
Verify submission of information into the external systems for certification, including the IMO Data Collection System (DCS) and European Union Monitoring, Reporting and Verification of Emissions (MRV)
Coordinate comprehensive sampling program to support environmental compliance requirements
Assist with and lead National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) annual and dry-dock inspections
Conduct annual environmental compliance inspection of DCL-operated islands
Participate in and lead environmental component of required regulatory audits conducted under the IMO International Safety Management (ISM) and Marine Pollution (MARPOL) conventions
Support shipboard audits for compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company procedures
Follow up on audit non-conformities, observations and provide technical advice on corrective actions
Partner with leadership to ensure cast/crew are properly informed and aware of all environmental procedures that may be relevant based on location, timing, or other factors
Develop and maintain contacts in the environmental industry
Develop and maintain key environmental partnerships with the WDW Environmental, DSE businesses, and other shoreside and shipboard personnel
Participate in the DCL shoreside Environmental Committee
Serve as the Environmental Compliance Emergency Duty Manager for Incident Contact Point notifications
Basic Qualifications
Proven experience working with environmental regulations
Experience interacting with external governmental agencies.
Database management and data analytics experience
Proven partnership with government and legal agencies
Thorough understanding of environmental regulations
Recordkeeping instrumentation
Strong computer software capabilities, presentation and training skills
Demonstrated strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated strong negotiating and influencing abilities
Strong auditing and analytical skills
Strong partnering skills
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Willingness to learn and implement new or changes to existing programs

Required Education
