Position Summary

Full-time, on-site contract support to Special Operations Forces (SOF) Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Operations training Specialist (Instructor). Instructor will perform unit level Direct-Action Certification Course (DACC) training in the classroom and field environment, as well as assist in the course curriculum development, planning, scheduling, and supporting logistical requirements that maintain compliance with higher headquarters (HHQ) instructions and current operational training requirements.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) support to SOF EOD for organizing, managing, and delivering effective classroom, laboratory, and practical instruction in unique tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) for specific Special Operations support.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining DACC training courses in accordance with HHQ and career field guidance. Support syllabi and instructional courseware development/modification in accordance with HHQ directives.
  • Accurately conduct, document, and analyze EOD evaluations IAW 28th EOD DACC standards.
  • Provide classroom and field instruction in hazardous environments and conditions (in and around rotary and fixed wing military aircraft during ground and flying operations) on knowledge and performance objectives in support of DACC training courses, and other unit training courses that pertain to the contractor’s area of subject matter expertise.
  • Provide recommendations for EOD equipment, critical training components, and any EOD or safety related training course equipment in the bi-quarterly Situation Report (SITREP).
  • Assist in the process of maintaining accountability for instructional material and student reference products such as the syllabi of instruction (SOI’s), student critiques/end of course critiques, After Action Reports (AARs), and consolidated inputs from other instructors/subject matter experts to evolve SOIs.
  • In performance of instructor duties, the contractor shall actively provide subject matter expertise to 28th EOD instructors and students in the following areas and disciplines: DA Methodology, Threat Assessments, Demo Procedures, IED Awareness and Enemy TTPs, SSE Course, Remote Pull and Body Flip Procedures, Breach Clearance, Cache Course, HLZ Clearance, Route Clearance, and new and emerging technologies approved for and/or applicable to EOD operations.
  • Perform Range Safety Officer duties IAW IAW DA PAM 385-63, maintaining currency and qualifications.
  • Plan, organize, manage, and conduct effective classroom, laboratory, and practical instruction in support of SOF EOD operational requirements.
  • Document processes and provide continual process improvement.
  • Comply with company standard operating policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Ability to qualify for and maintain a TOP SECRET clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Graduate of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal MOS or specialty rating course earning one of the following: US Army MOS 89D, USMC MOS 2336, US Navy NEC 5337 and US Air Force AFSC 3E831.
  • Qualified as a Master EOD Technician or equivalent.
  • Qualified in advance military EOD tactics, techniques, and procedures, with mandated requirement to conduct EOD operational training and evaluations.
  • Must have performed a DACC instructor role (or equivalent) in the 12 months.
  • Prior certification as an EOD instructor and or experience as a unit EOD Training Manager.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience performing EOD operations in a Special Operations Forces community or served as senior leadership position within a Special Operations Force.
  • Working knowledge and certification to perform RSO duties.
  • Knowledge of Range Facility Management Support System (RFMSS) program and planning/scheduling management systems.
  • Knowledge/application of continuous improvement through program objectives and assessments of tactics, techniques, and procedures for development with skill in accomplishing special training studies and projects.
  • Knowledge/application of data collection techniques, practices, and statistical analysis principles for trend analysis.
  • Knowledge/application of formal classroom/field instruction techniques and procedures.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion.
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process and ability to closely monitor student safety during high-risk training operations involving the use of explosives.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and to provide continued, uninterrupted support to assigned projects, clients and/or programs.
  • Conduct CONUS based travel in support of unit training events. (15% Travel)
  • Relocation to job site is required.

Preferred Skills

  • EOD deployment to a combat theater within last 36 months.

Physical Demands

  • Must be highly physically fit to include all fundamentals of fitness (strength, endurance, cardio, flexibility, and body composition)
  • Have the ability to walk carrying 25lbs for 1-3 miles over varied terrain for multiple iterations
  • Lift 50 pounds. (Offloading truck, setting up targets, etc.)
  • Navigate stairs under low visibility.
  • Ability to Sprint 50-100 Meters


Additional Notes

Ideal candidate will have working knowledge of the supported organization and organizations within USASOC. He or She will understand the complexities of running an assessment course. The candidate must understand that five weeks of the DACC is conducted at night.
