Position Purpose: The Events & Programs Coordinator is responsible for all Chamber events, including, but not limited to logistics, marketing, registrations, budget and facilities relations. Individual must be self-motivated, results-oriented with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality member support. Additionally, possess excellent time management skills; credible; and comfortable dealing with a broad spectrum of business industries and people.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Managing logistics, promotion and all aspects of the Chamber’s signature events including: Annual Dinner, Chamber Concert Series, Golf Outing, Chamber Business Series, Chamber Champions, and regional Chamber events
- Assisting in the planning, promotion and execution of other events including Shop Local events and tourism related events
- Attendance and involvement in appropriate City of Indianola, Warren County and regional events, programs, and organizations at the request of the President & CEO.
- Assisting in the administrative day to day operations of the Chamber of Commerce, such as answering phones, assisting visitors, etc.
- All jobs and assignments as an employee of the Indianola Chamber of Commerce are not inherently defined and may be subject to change over the term of your employment at the sole discretion of the President & CEO.
- Work with multiple committees to implement successful events and programs
- Solicits, secures, and grows sponsorships for each event
- Travel for events, programs, and professional development opportunities
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Chamber mission, vision, and purpose
- Excellent knowledge of administrative practices
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to maintain and high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
- Willingness to learn – ChamberNation, website editors, and other programs as required
Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Post-secondary education desired
- 3 to 5 years’ experience related to the position
- Strong communication skills (written and oral)
- Able to lift 20-40 lbs
- Desired intermediate to advanced knowledge of computer programs including: Microsoft Excel, Word, and Office 265
- Knowledgeable with creative development platforms such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite
- Management and experience with social media outlets including Facebook and Instagram
- Must provide adequate auto insurance, valid driver’s license
Work Environment and Physical Demands
A general office environment. Close mental and visual attention. May require working in a seated and/or standing position for long periods of time using hand-wrist motions to operate a computer keyboard. Moderate levels of stress may occur. May require the movement of supplies from one location to another, especially for events.
This position may require work outside the normal business hours.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
