The Evidence Technician serves as the first level of the Evidence Series, process and maintain law enforcement evidence and related records. Receive and maintain appropriate chain of custody of confiscated property, evidence and vehicles. Transfer evidence as needed. Process and destroy evidence appropriately. Enter data into the system.

Description:
Starting Annual Salary $49,150.40 ($23.63/hr) - $56,971.20 - $73,715.20 with seniority and experience.

Receive and maintain evidence. Log and track evidence. Ensure proper chain of custody. Submit evidence for lab analysis and court.
Respond to inquiries from public and department personnel. Hold viewings of evidence and present case evidence for district attorneys and attorneys. Instruct and train others regarding evidence procedures.
Maintain inventory lists for destruction. Destroy and transfer dispositioned property. Ensure proper paperwork has been submitted.
Administer evidence management processes associated with the receipt, maintenance and release of confiscated items, using established guidelines and procedures. Ensure items are properly packaged and stored.
Perform various routine clerical duties using standard office equipment. Screen incoming calls, take and transmit messages, maintain calendars, key information into databases, make photocopies, enter data, fax documents, type, and word processing.
Destroy or depose of evidence using established procedures.
Maintain vehicle impound lot.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Preferred - 1-2 years of law enforcement or clerical-administrative experience.
