Excavator Operator

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Safe operation of excavator/backhoe

· Handling and/or moving material

· Knowledge of the excavator/backhoe loading requirements; load charts; critical picks

· Excavate trenches on grade

· Proper backfill procedures around pipe to maintain ovality and to achieve compaction

· Rig, lift, swing and set precast structures and pipe materials

· Safely and efficiently move excavator around the jobsite

Technical Knowledge:

· Effective communication skills

· Identify, report and correct hazards

· Ability to use the controls to effectively operate the excavator/backhoe

· Understands and watches machine control, gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure the machine is working properly.

· Rigging and hoisting

· Safe trenching

Training and Experience:

· 3 years of excavator / trackhoe / backhoe operation experience required

· Experience excavating for and installing large pipe for underground utilities including water, storm, and sewer required.

· Competent Person Training preferred

· Good verbal and written communication skills

· Excellent organizational skills

· Punctual and Reliable

Compensation: Competitive and Negotiable, Up to $30/hr based on experience.

Hours / Shifts: Normal hours are 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM M-F. Some sites 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM M-TH, and some Saturdays.  We plan to work 45-50 hours each week. Overtime is likely but not guaranteed.
