We work from our headquarters in Charleston, our legislative office in Columbia, our South Coast office in Beaufort, which covers Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton, and Hampton counties, our North Coast office, which works across Georgetown, Horry, Marion, Williamsburg, and Florence counties, and our food hub, GrowFood Carolina, in Charleston. Summary:

The Executive Assistant provides administrative support to the Executive Director and the Director of Human Resources and serves as liaison to the Board of Directors. This position plays a critical role in managing schedules and communications with leadership and board members of the organization. This position is responsible for supporting the Directof Human Resources in HR administrative tasks.



Essential Functions:

  • Maintaining the Executive Director’s calendar including scheduling and confirming meetings and appointments, communicating with participants, and ensuring meeting logistics are set
  • Coordinating executive communications including phone calls and emails and acting on their behalf
  • Interfacing with all aspects of the organization in support of a highly functioning teams – including scheduling of staff, leadership, and individual meetings and agendas
  • Interfacing with Board members to coordinate calendars and schedule regular meetings
  • Preparing Board materials using a variety of current software to provide professional presentations
  • Managing the Nominating and Governance Board Committee
  • Supporting and participating in external events
  • Drafting memos and other documents, compiling information, conducting research to develop communications
  • Executing various administrative tasks including scheduling travel and managing travel itineraries, preparing expense reports, and maintaining an organized filing system for paper and electronic documents
  • Performing as trusted confidant to Executive Director.
  • Provides assistant duties for HR Administrative tasks to the Director of Human Resources.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in Business Administration or related field or a minimum of 2 years in an administrative or executive assistant role.
  • Prior experience in a similar role is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with multiple calendar and events management.
  • Experience with managing, documenting, and creating board meeting packets and minutes.


Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field or a minimum of 4 years in an administrative or executive assistant role.
  • 3-5 years of prior experience preferred.

The position operates in a professional office environment located in Charleston, SC.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
