Executive Director of Admissions & Enrollment Management Job at SUNY Geneseo
Position Summary
The Executive Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management is responsible for all aspects of SUNY Geneseo undergraduate student recruitment and admissions programs and represents the college to all constituents seeking information about the admission process. The Executive Director is also engaged in program development designed to broaden Geneseo’s reach, which includes programs focused on diversity and inclusion. As a member of the senior enrollment management team, the Executive Director must exercise considerable independent judgment to devise new approaches, solve complex and difficult problems, and challenge the status quo. Through a data-driven approach, the Executive Director develops and implements department-wide office priorities, protocols for counseling, project, and support staff, and recommending changes in policy affecting file review.
Work collaboratively with the Enrollment Management Leadership Team, which includes financial aid, graduate, and transfer on the development of the enrollment management plan.
Manages and directs long term goals for the annual application review calendar and facilitates and conducts annual application review training for admissions staff.
Works closely with the Vice President for Enrollment and the Executive Director of Financial Aid and Enrollment Management on leveraging financial resources to optimize Geneseo’s financial aid awarding and packaging.
Oversee the admissions recruitment and outreach strategy and coordinate all direct outreach activities to school counselors, community-based organizations, prospective students and their parents and other stakeholders.
Lead collaborative efforts with marketing and communications, along with operations and data management, to support all programs through communication and development of print and web marketing materials, website content, and external prospective student lead generation source management.
Hires, trains, guides, and conducts performance reviews for admissions staff; may also make promotion recommendations.
Collaborates with campus partners, including faculty and the Provosts office and campus leaders on developing new and innovative enrollment initiatives (such as pre-college summer programs, alumni volunteer programs, combined degree-programs, etc.) designed to attract, enroll, and retain a diverse and talented student body.
Lead efforts focused on enhancing the customer service experience for prospective students and their parents, including campus visitation programs and yield programing for admitted students and their families.
Absence of the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Director is the Enrollment Management leader in charge and makes collaborative decisions with the Executive Director of Financial Aid, on behalf of the Vice President.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in higher education enrollment management/admissions
- Demonstrated skills in a results-driven, forward-thinking environment and possess a clear strategic vision for how Geneseo will address and position the College in preparation for the emerging national demographic and socioeconomic trends.
- Demonstrated superior communication skills and judgment
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills and ability to build successful inter-organizational relationships through effective leadership.
- Demonstrated skills in collaboration and consensus building throughout the campus that is comprehensive and student-centered
- Demonstrated commitment to the college values of diversity and inclusivity.
- Master’s degree
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity and have the ability to work well independently and in a team.
- Demonstrated strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
- Knowledge of student information system (preferably Banner) and customer relationship database (CRM), such as Slate
- Knowledge and understanding of Financial Aid practices
