Qualifications Custodial 1 year (Preferred).
MUST live within a 30 minute drive of Marlborough - this is a deal breaker.
Compensation Rate: $21.00/hour. Hours: 20 per week (Tuesday – Friday flexible days and hours). Sunday mornings (approx. 90 minutes) are required (this is a deal breaker) to open church and check the building before worship service. Start: Immediately. Paid vacation and Flexible Schedule excluding Sunday morning.
Facility Maintenance (Part-time)
First Church in Marlborough is looking for a proactive, facility maintenance person who will provide the essential cleaning and maintenance services for the church building and grounds. Our candidate should be self-motivated, observant, respectful, and committed to providing church members, staff, and visitors, with a clean, orderly place to worship, work, and congregate. This position reports to the Trustees.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow weekly cleaning schedule for sanctuary, temple room, offices, classrooms, kitchen, fellowship hall, common areas and bathrooms (Tues and Fri); includes dusting, vacuuming floors, mopping hard surface floors, cleaning counters, removing trash & recycling and sanitizing bathrooms; Restocking of supplies in bathrooms/kitchen as needed; Handle any issue requiring maintenance/repair as appropriate (or report to Trustees).
- Prepare building areas for worship, funerals, weddings, etc.; Open the building each Sunday morning prior to services and for other off-Sunday services as required.
- Check exterior grounds daily. Maintain yard debris/trash; Mow lawn/remove leaves; Clear snow at entrance/exit and apply ice melt on snow days during published Church workdays by 9am and by 8am on Sundays/Church service days.
- Primary contact for all electrical, heat, fire, and water alarm vendors.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor functioning of church systems (circulation pump valves, sump pump, heat, fire and water alarms, electric, etc.)
- Initiate work as directed by Trustees
- Act as point person and monitor for electric, heating, plumbing, trash and snow removal vendors
- Order/maintain/store all maintenance supplies (cleaning materials, paper products, etc.)
- Ensure spaces are organized post-event as time/situation allows for building use the following day
- At end of work shift ensure the security of the building to include control of the heating system and locking interior/exterior doors
- Ensure heat is on/off in a timely manner for Sunday services, renters and meetings
Facility Maintenance Requirements:
· Custodial or similar experience
· Understanding of cleaning techniques and safety procedures
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, use various small power and hand tools
· Able to pass a CORI check
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Flexibility to adjust their schedule when the church has special events
· Motivation to work independently and with others to provide thorough, efficient custodial services to the church.
