General Summary

Manage the day to day functions of managing a feed portfolio. Team Lead -- Feed & Animal Health will provide focus and consistency to the portfolio along with managing the relationship with the supplier(s). Ensure growth in sales, margins, service revenue, and market share necessary to achieve financial targets consistent with the SSC Corporate Strategic Plans.

Essential Job Functions

Defining and managing the corporate feed & animal health products portfolio. Execution of budgeting process aligned with sales and marketing/merchandising programs. Ensures profitability to our company own locations. Grow profitable sales/margins through new customer acquisition (market share) and wallet share increase on existing customers/prospects using tools available through CRM and customer goal setting.Coordinate and optimize capital expenditures and leased expenses within budget guidelines that will ensure quality service to customers/prospects and maximize our earning potential while complying with environmental and safety policies.Work closely with Team Lead -- Strategic Pricing and Marketing to ensure procurement/promotion is aligned to achieve our strategic growth initiatives and profitability goals.Managing the relationships with supplier(s) and terms of our Supply Agreement.Create and execute a philosophy that provides platforms for stores to compete in the feed & animal health market. The philosophy will align with the corporate vision and strategic plan.Creating and communicating SSC and Vendor programs to stores.Analyzing programs for effectiveness.Provides guidance on price management and COGS in a commodity pricing environment.Research information on competitive products.Provide price/cost monitoring for products in the portfolio.Research alternatives for products not available from the primary supplier.Coordinate training for stores utilizing resources from supplier and other technical entities.Maintain a relation for SSC with land grant universities in the SSC region.Provide guidance and support for all SSC locations.Participate in industry associations, social, community and other activities which promote the well-being of the industry of agriculture and the company.Perform additional job functions as required.ualifications

Education: B.S. degree in Animal Science or Animal Nutrition or five + years of relevant experience in the feed industry. Multi-species knowledge: Horse, Beef, Poultry are primary. Basic knowledge of grain and/or ingredient markets

Experience: Significant retail operations experience. Must have demonstrated leadership skills, adept at building and motivating teams and the development and execution of merchandising and operations initiatives. Must have broad experience in the agriculture industry and be a team player with the ability to motivate by example and communicate through excellent verbal and written skills.

A combination of completed coursework and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Work Environment

The Team Leader -- Feed position primarily performs essential job functions in an office environment. While traveling may have contact with hazardous materials. Drive/travel and work in adverse weather conditions. Requires a valid driver's license. Travel required up to 75% of time.

Physical Activities & Requirements

While performing the essential job functions of this position, the Team Leader - Feed is required to:

Continuously sit, manual dexterity (fingers and hands), utilize eye/hand coordination, and utilize hands in repetitive motion.

Frequently stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands. Pull, push, lift, and carry up to 10 pounds unassisted.

Occasionally climb, stoop and kneel. Pull, push, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Must be able to hear and speak to employees, customers and business partners regarding day-to-day operational issues and exchange detailed information and instructions accurately & quickly. When in production, distribution, and/or retail facilities, must be able to hear equipment sounds, pages, radio and speak to co-workers regarding safety issues. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
