The Dental Patient Service Representative works with the dental team and reports to the Dental Program Administrator and Dental Director. The clients are primarily low income, non‑English speaking, Denti‑Cal recipients or uninsured. CommuniCare Health Centers is a Federally Qualified Health Center providing comprehensive patient-centered primary care services including medical, dental, substance abuse treatment, behavioral health and outreach services to low income, multi-ethnic, uninsured and underinsured populations.


Fill-in position, 0 - 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday, some evenings may be required. Travel to different clinics is required. Schedule may vary based on location in Davis, Woodland, West Sacramento, and Esparto.

  • Greet and register patients and process eligibility paperwork. Collect patient history and demographics.
  • Answer busy telephones during clinics, schedule appointments, provide information according to program protocols, provide appropriate referrals, and take accurate phone messages.
  • Assist with patient financial screening. Collect payments for services as needed. Reconcile cash receipts daily.
  • Prepare patient charts prior to clinics. Pull and re-file chart. Copy forms as needed.
  • Assist with appointment scheduling and confirmation of appointments. Assist with patient follow-up as needed.
  • Assist with special assignments and other projects as needed.


SALARY/BENEFITS:

Compensation depends on experience.

Education & Experience: High school diploma with some college coursework preferred. Dental office experience preferred. Excellent knowledge of dental record keeping, charting and billing required.

Special Skills/Equipment: Bilingual Spanish/English required. Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Must provide proof of current driver’s license and auto insurance.

Expectations: Able to work well with small children. Attendance and punctuality is necessary. Required to have versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm and have acute attention to detail. Expected to have strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to understand and follow written/verbal instructions. Required to have the ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels and with external customers. Able to work independently with little or no supervision.

Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time. Sufficient range of motion and dexterity to operate computer keyboard. Hearing required for patient assessment. Close and color vision required. Able to lift up to 20 lbs.

Pay Rate:

  • The pay range for this position is $17.68/hr.-$23.00/hr.. Starting pay within this range will vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • May be eligible for annual 2% + 0-2% merit-based pay adjustment (0-4%)
