Our rapidly growing Industrial Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Food & Beverage, Mineral Processing, Renewable Fuels, Pulp and Paper, Steel & Aluminum, Industrial Buildings, and Industrial Energy, Water and Utilities.

LOCATION

This position is based out of our Lenexa, KS office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide fire protection design and support for infrastructure facilities.
  • Generate calculations to size water supply, fire pumps, and underground pipe sizing.
  • Review vendor fire suppression and fire alarm system plans and calculations.
  • Develop drawings and specifications for fire protection contractors to furnish and install fire protection systems for various design-build projects.
  • Collaborate with various team members from various disciplines to ensure complete coordination throughout each project.
  • Travel is required (approximately 10% of the time) to meet with clients and/or job site personnel as needed.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure concepts and requirements are fully conveyed to the various team members and clients.
  • Responsible and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Competent knowledge of applicable NFPA standards such as NFPA 13, 14, 15, 20, and 24. Familiarity with building and fire codes is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of fire suppression and fire detection systems and how they interface with various disciplines
  • Setting up 3D models and other workspaces within Revit and AutoCAD, as well as sheets while also performing all design work within those environments at the direction the responsible engineer assigned to the project.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, however experience may be considered a substitute based on evaluation.
  • 1-3 years minimum relevant experience in the fire protection industry with design background.
  • Familiarity with the application of NFPA standards as it relates to various fire alarm and suppression systems..
  • Adjusts to varying demands of work and performs well.
  • Communicates effectively orally and in writing. Present ideas clearly and in a professional manner.
  • Self-discipline, motivation, and ability to operate in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD in addition to other standard Microsoft programs such as Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
  • Passion for safety and demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail

Base Compensation: $57,738 - $86,607
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
