The Role
This requisition is for a Manager Engineering 2 position in the A4W Reactor Plant Planning Yard's (RPPY) Fluid Systems section. This group provides engineering support to the fleet, NAVSEA, TYCOM, and the shipyards that support Nimitz Class carriers. This includes but isn't limited to modernization, life cycle maintenance, LAR resolution, obsolescence resolution, and technology development for fluid systems in the A4W Plant. In this role the supervisor must be able to apply engineering principles, theory, technology, and tools to lead a team which will analyze and resolve engineering problems in new and existing designs. Having a mindset for innovative, cost-effective technical solutions that are critical to achieving project/program objectives is expected.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master’s Degree and 4 years of relevant experience

Nice to Have
Experience managing mechanical engineers and designers executing complex projects in reactor plants.
Experience with the operation, design, and troubleshooting of fluid systems.
Knowledge of and experience with piping systems, fluid flow, pumps, valves and other components, corrosion, FEA, laboratory testing, additive manufacturing, and shipboard and waterfront environments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with formal and informal communication with the Naval Nuclear Laboratory/Bettis, multiple NAVSEA 08 codes, BPMI, shipyards, and vendors.
Demonstrated success as a leader, mentor, navigator, etc.
Demonstrated success as a leader of collaborative, cross-functional efforts.
Demonstrated experience applying the Naval Reactors Program Principles.
Demonstrated history of commitment to continuous improvement.
Ability to self-initiate assignments, make decisions, and provide recommendations that are critical to achieving project/program long-range goals and objectives.
History of performing duties while being largely self-directed.
Proficiency balancing safety, quality, cost, and schedule with the needs of employees as people.
Ability to work within the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program system boundaries while also questioning and testing those boundaries.
Demonstrated experience in effective project management and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple efforts simultaneously to meet safety, schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
