River Valley, a growing specialty foods and consumable products distributor in Syracuse, NY, is searching for a full time Warehouse Forklift Operator.

River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA.

The Forklift Operator is responsible for accurately and efficiently scanning freight to their assigned locations in the warehouse.

The Forklift Operator reports to the First Shift Supervisor.

This is a first shift position with a 5:00am-3:45pm (Wednesday-Saturday) schedule and wages start at $18.25.

Essential Responsibilities

• Arrive on-time for the start of the scheduled shift and attend the daily start-up meeting
• Perform a pre-operation inspection of any equipment being used for selection
• Accurately put away freight, complete required letdowns and work the advance letdowns daily
• Follow company and SQF guidelines when handling products, including the handling of damaged cases discovered in the warehouse
• Wrap pallets as needed to ensure stability through the warehouse and examine the pallet ensuring it’s of sound quality to be stored in overhead locations.
• Operate all equipment in a safe manner at all times
• Additional duties (selecting, cleaning, replenishing bays, or others) requested by supervisor

Key Skills and Competencies

• Ability to read and understand English in order to understand customer orders and supervisor instructions
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods of time
• Able to operate the RF guns accurately
• Ability to accurately put away and replenish freight

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Forklift experience preferred but not required
