Front Office MA needed for Orthopedic Surgery Center Job at Atlanta Orthopedic Institute

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs data entry duties to include patient demographics and ensures current updates within the facility’s medical records software
- Review scheduled patient appointments and contact patients, via telephone, to confirm appointment date, time, and location
- Pulls pre-registration documents in the patient portals(Athena) and uploads them into the facility software (SIS)
- Completes patient check in along with applicable patient paperwork
- Organizes and maintain accurate patient records using the electronic medical records software (EMR), updating when necessary
- Continuously monitors the schedule for changes. Prints and distributes surgery schedule to staff and associated physicians.
- Scans all required documents to the patients charts as instructed by Administrator or Nursing Director and maintains patients’ medical records
- Assembles paper lite charts for use on day of procedure
- Audits charts post procedure for completeness before scanning into the digital medical record
- Answer patient questions and provide assistance or direction when necessary
- Perform pre-op phone calls and answer any patient questions or concerns
- Maintain a safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Scan and fax documents as needed
- Answering, screen, and forward incoming phone calls while maintaining a professional courteous demeanor.
- Respond to client, staff, and visitor inquiries via email, phone, and in-person in an accurate and timely manner
- Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk
- Maintain all patient information in a confidential and secure manner
- Monitor stock levels, and equipment needs and report to nursing director
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Performs other administrative duties as assigned by manager
REQUIREMENTS:
- MINIMUM of two (2) years’ of healthcare front office experience in a surgical center or outpatient medical clinic REQUIRED
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bilingual in another language PREFERRED
- Must be able to handle patient confrontations in a positive manner.
- Proficient with medical terminology and multiple Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software programs
- Working knowledge of health care environment and patient processing with computerized scheduling software.
- Knowledge of outpatient surgery forms, policies and procedures.
- Ability to use standard medical office equipment and be highly computer literate.
- Good communication skills: oral and written.
- All employees must be able to provide proof of identity and their right to work in the US.
