Baxter & Woodman’s Spatial Technology Group has a rewarding opportunity for a GIS Technician II in our Crystal Lake, Naperville, Chicago, or Mokena, IL office. Successful candidates will possess strong work ethic, technical problem-solving skills and the ability to work within a wide variety of project types and environmental conditions. Position Duties
- Report to the Spatial Technology Group Manager for work responsibilities, scheduling, and tasks.
- Perform office based mapping tasks map creation, data manipulation, analysis and technical problem solving
- Create and manage ArcGIS Online Organization accounts and related content
- Perform troubleshooting tasks
- Manage geodata standards, clean up, and maintenance.
- Provide onsite work for municipal clients and field based projects as needed.
- Provide field-based services including but not limited to GPS data collection of new assets / as builts, condition assessments of utilities, pavement, signage, ADA, As-builts etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Remote Sensing or related field required
- 2+ years related professional experience
- Professional experience with current ArcGIS Desktop releases and ArcGIS Online
- +-70% workload will be office based GIS and Spatial Technology related tasks
- +-30% workload will be out of office performing work on site with clients, GPS services, data collection, inspections, condition assessments in a wide-variety of project types and environments.
- Working knowledge of map design and end user focused layout
- Working knowledge of Public Works and municipal engineering services a plus
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to demonstrate efficient problem solving techniques
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to travel throughout Chicagoland area (own transportation)
