Job Summary
Primary responsibility is to engage in original, professional-level research under a faculty member’s supervision in the course of obtaining a graduate degree.
Essential Functions
- Complete required & necessary training relevant to dissertation research
- Develop & complete dissertation project relevant to lab
- Organize & complete a strong, relevant graduate committee
- Internal or external scholarship applications
- Be a team player & support others’ research activities
- Present dissertation research at scientific conference
- Mentor at least one undergraduate each year in research
- Complete & perform well in required coursework
- Actively participate in weekly lab meetings
- Participate in at least one outreach event each year
- Serve as a teaching assistant for at least one course, if available
- Consider supporting scientific service, including reviewing manuscripts & proposals
- Be at work during normal university work hours
- Understand graduate student holidays are same as employees
- Clearly communicate with others in lab
- Engage lab visitors, including seminar speakers, as time permits
- Be a leader for other students in the lab
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as an Auburn University graduate student.
- Master’s degree in Biology, Fisheries, Aquaculture, Environmental Sciences, or closely related at the time employment begins.
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant work experience with aquatic ecology research and/or water quality research. Prior coursework in limnology and statistics, relevant research experiences (including analytical skills, such GC-MS, GC-FID, HPLC, ELISA).
Pay Rate
$25,000/annually or $2,083/monthly
