TxDOT's Compliance Division is looking for a Grant Management Compliance Coordinator based in Austin, TX. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to serve as a subject matter expert and coordinate cross-Divisional and third party education initiatives. Position Description


Performs highly advanced grant management consultative and technical assistance work in the Compliance Division, External Audit & Advisory Services section. Serves as a resource and grant management subject matter expert to District, Division, and grant recipient staff. Provides consultative and technical assistance regarding Uniform Grant Guidance (Title 2 Code of Federal Regulations 200) and Texas Grant Management Standards. Work involves collaborating with TxDOT granting divisions, districts providing oversight, and the Financial Management Division, tracking grant management federal/state legislation, rules, regulations, and policy implementation and/or updates, providing pre-award education, post-award analysis, and maintaining, reviewing, and preparing confidential and special reports. Work requires contact with departmental executives, managers, governmental officials and third parties. Employees at this level are virtually self-supersizing and assume direct accountability for the work product.

Essential Duties:

  • Serves as a lead worker.
  • Collaborates with TxDOT granting divisions to provide grant management training to grant recipients and TxDOT employees.
  • Tracks grant management federal/state legislation, rules, regulations, and policy implementation and/or updates in order to communicate and educate TxDOT grant program staff on new or modified requirements and best practices.
  • Works closely with Financial Management Division in the identification and tracking of grant management funds utilized by TxDOT. Coordinate collaboration between granting divisions on similar scope grants.
  • Provides timely and accurate grant management status reports to the External Audit Section Director, Compliance Division Director Chief Audit and Compliance Officer, and Texas Transportation Commission.
  • Supports decision-making on appropriate and allowable grant management activities to be utilized by the Department and/or its grant recipients.
  • Ensures the Department's monitoring, and oversight of grant management programs reflect the priorities of the Department.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in any discipline

Experience: 5 years experience carrying out, overseeing, or auditing/monitoring federal and/or state grant management programs. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent.)

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
  • Must have one of the following certifications at the time of application:
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
    • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
    • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
    • Compliance & Ethics Professional Certificate

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Department of Transportation Grant Programs.

  • Understand complex problems and explore alternative solutions

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Sedentary work: lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
  • Talking-expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken words
  • Repetitive motion - substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Close visual acuity - work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
