General Summary:
Looking for a fulltime or part time handyperson/installer with a strong work ethic and a good overall knowledge and ability of multiple trades for general maintenance and repairs. In addition, the ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills for interaction with a variety of customers, fellow employees and the management team. Knowledge of the surrounding community and personal/professional connections in the industry is a plus. The Handyperson uses a combination of store walk in traffic, business to business calls to other /professionals, and their own personal and professional contacts to drive sales. The candidate needs to be able to complete a full project cycle from lead generation all the way through quoting, ordering and scheduling the installation. This position is either salaried full time or part time hourly depending on the experience of the applicant and their availability. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience working in retail environments with good management skills. The installer will be working closely with the store manager, design manager, and interior designer.

Responsibilities and qualifications for the role include but are not limited to:
  • Provides sales and house calls.
  • Develop New and Existing business/personal contacts to drive project generation and sales.
  • Works with management team to help mentor staff for lead generation and training.
  • Weekly meetings with the store manager to review various stages of lead generation, projects and sales.
  • Willingness to complete vendor specific certifications and desire to continually expand knowledge base.
  • Help drive sales within the store
  • Measuring and installing window treatments
  • Light maintenance and home repair
  • Ability to perform minor electrical and plumbing
  • Current and valid driver’s license
  • Residence within our service area
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Education/Training: High School degree. Possess experience and product knowledge along with a willingness to learn about new products and business areas.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ work experience in light construction
  • Sales experience with ability to generate and close sales
  • Ability to create customer quotes, orders and schedule installations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including retail hours, evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business
  • Ability to travel to clients’ homes and businesses install products and build/repair customer projects.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with a high attention to detail
  • Knowledge of computer systems, MS Word and Excel a plus.
  • Have a MA Driver’s License or ability to acquire one
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time
  • Move and handle boxes, which entails lifting (up to 50lbs) and perform all functions as set forth
