Description:
To give high school students the opportunity to develop speech skills and participate in quality competitive and non-competitive performing speech activities. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in the contest series sponsored by the IHSSA.
Job Summary:
Recruits and selects students to participate in appropriate and worthwhile large group/individual speech activities.
Develops rehearsal and preparation schedules for students. This may need to be done in consultation with and in cooperation with other activity sponsors.
Provides for the timely registration of students for appropriate contests and festivals.
Follows established district policy in the purchasing of goods and services through both general and activity accounts.
Provides adequate supervision of students involved in rehearsals after school and on weekends and activities taking place in locations other than school facilities.
Teaches and encourages the development of academically sound speech skills for students who participate.
Qualifications:
High School graduate or equivalency diploma
A documented interest and background in the principles and practices of extra-curricular speech.
