Job Overview:

The Health Information Management Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, and performing day-to-day HIM departmental operations and staff supervision. The HIM Manager will oversee and implement facility related HIM operational planning/initiatives, budgets, workflow processes and internal controls.


Responsibilities include; interviewing, hiring and training employees; plans, assigns and directs workflow, appraises employee performance and rewards and disciplines accordingly; addresses complaints and resolves problems; and actively oversees and manages production and quality control efforts.


Implement and support all Corporate HIM initiatives and activities. Provide support to HIM Departments at the facility level for department operations, reimbursement opportunities, various program implementation and HIM specific system installations.
Responsibilities:
The Manager, Health Information Management is responsible for managing, coordinating and performing day to day HIM departmental operations and staff supervision. The HIM Manager will oversee and implement facility related HIM operational planning, initiatives, budgets, workfow processes and internal controls. Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing workflows. Actively overseeing and managing production and quality control efforts. Serving as the facility Privacy Offier and designated Facility Records Custodian. Additional responsibilities include:
  • Utilize appropriate management methods and practices
  • Analyze complex and varied data/information from a variety of sources, develop practical and applicable alternatives with justifications, determine the appropriate solution, and successfully implement
  • Communicate effectively, tactfully, and persuasively in both oral and written
  • Supervise, evaluate, and motivate assigned staff
  • Plan, manage and prioritized a wide variety of functions within a given time frame and limited resource

Qualifications:
Education
Associates degree in Applied Science - Health Information Management required

Experience
3 years experience in HIM required
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) OR
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) through AHIMA, required

Other
Ability to provide effective leadership to assigned staff and utilize appropriate management methods and practices.
