Position Description
This position is a Health Program Specialist 1 position with the Division of Public and Behavioral Health in Carson City. The Health and Program Specialist 1 serving as the Evaluator for the Tobacco Control Unit within the Chronic Disease Prevention & Health Promotion (CDPHP) Section in the Bureau of Child, Family, and Community Wellness, Division of Public and Behavioral Health located in Carson City, Nevada. This position will collect, report, and maintain tobacco prevention data, including partner-provided program data, to provide a robust evaluable set of statistics to inform tobacco program activities. This position will include surveillance of state and national data, provide data source investigation, and prepare reports that define the burden of tobacco across the state. The position will lead and conduct the CDC-required evaluation activities for the Population Health & Wellness Unit, including federal and state-level funding. The position will also work with the Youth Prevention evaluator to collect and assess tobacco-related data. The candidate should possess skills in querying data, organizing and reporting data in a meaningful way, and utilizing data for evaluation purposes. Experience with geographical information system mapping and statistical analysis software is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a health science, behavioral science or closely related field applicable to the program area and two years of health-related experience which included at least two of the following areas: researching, collecting and analyzing data and statistics, developing objectives, protocols and procedures; providing health education services to target groups or the general public; evaluating program effectiveness and accomplishment of desired outcomes to meet federal, agency or other standards and guidelines; providing prevention, identification or treatment services to individuals or populations who have been diagnosed or are at risk of contracting life and health threatening diseases and/or conditions; and/or investigation and prevention of communicable or chronic diseases; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

- Pursuant to NRS 632, a Bachelor’s degree from a school or professional nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing is equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
