Job Summary and Qualifications
Capital Deployment Overview:
HCA Healthcare re-invests over $3.8 billion on its hospitals every year. Capital Deployment is responsible for the management of approximately one-half of this amount on new facilities and expansions & renovations on existing assets. This department interacts with facility leadership and HCA senior management from initial concept, through design, then construction and ultimately to seeing the first patients
Job Summary:
Design Managers own a significant portion of capital project responsibility and transform high level conceptual development plans into construction ready documentation through management of the architectural and engineering design team. This includes oversight of project teams to get work done in a quality and timely fashion. Managers will work closely with hospital leadership, end users and internal colleagues in a collaborative working environment. Managers develop specialized knowledge about HCA Healthcare’s strategy and interact as subject matter experts on other corporate initiatives.
General Responsibilities:
- Perform Architect and Consultant evaluation, recommendations and selection.
- Lead cross functional teams in design coordination meetings with internal and external team members. Make decisions and provide direction on issues that arise.
- Ensure assigned projects are designed in a successful manner within the approved budget while maintaining scope, schedule and quality.
- Visit hospitals to monitor quality of designer’s performance and ensure that designs are meeting the needs of the facilities.
- Conduct post occupancy reviews/interviews with end users to validate designs and standards are operationally sound and incorporate best practices.
- Demonstrate proficiency and working knowledge of various service lines.
- Maintain relationships with the hospital and division leadership.
- Participate on Boards or review committees that support the overall goals of HCA; including meeting with state and local authorities to represent the company’s interest on design and code issues.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor in Architecture or other related degree required
- 7-10 years in consulting and/or healthcare architecture
- Healthcare owner experience preferable
Skills:
- Basic project management skills, deadline-driven, organized and able to multi-task
- Ability to manage and direct teams to fulfill project obligations
- Intellectual curiosity and quick ability to learn
- Ability to solve complex conceptual and operational problems
- Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
- Ability to manage upwards
- Travel is required
