Job Duties

Presides over all hearings for inmate disciplinary reports; receives and processes all forms related to disciplinary action; monitors the penalty offer process; oversees, implements and administers all procedures related to disciplinary hearings and offender disciplinary actions. Promotes positive offender behavior by contributing consequences to negative behavior. Provides staff with an avenue for proper offender management. Maintains compliance with Department Policy and Division and Institutional Operating Procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Considerable knowledge of VA DOC policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to obtain and evaluate information and evidence to conduct a fair and impartial hearing, make a sound and impartial finding of guilt or innocence and to explain charges, rules and regulations. Ability to synthesize data and conduct hearings in a fair and impartial manner and to document results of the disciplinary hearings. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to read, interpret and apply policies and guidelines, Ability to train staff and offenders in the application of disciplinary process. Computer skills to include Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to speak Spanish. Graduation from an accredited college with emphasis in Communication, Business, Administration, Social Sciences, or Criminal Justice. Experience working in Corrections or a related field. Considerable knowledge of VADOC Offender Discipline Procedure.
