A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

In this seasonal skilled labor position, you are an integral part of Summit Station's operations. Each day, you use your heavy equipment to complete a variety of crucial tasks, including maintaining the skiway, making water, maintaining the grade on the ice sheet, and supporting science and construction projects. You also help move cargo in and out of LC130 aircraft. Committed to safety, you perform daily equipment inspections as well as perform minor maintenance duties.

Working closely with your team, you notate any repair or maintenance needs on the daily checklist and notify the lead heavy equipment operator of these items daily. Organized and accurate, you maintain documentation for equipment use and time tracking. You also coordinate with key team members to identify station priorities and ensure all equipment is functioning optimally.

Always willing to lend a hand, you assist with any necessary tasks around camp, including shoveling snow, ice chipping, and aircraft operations. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

• 4+ years of experience as an equipment operator
• Experience operating loaders, bulldozers, and tractors
• Experience working and living in remote field sites
• Willingness to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions
• Valid driver's license

WORK SCHEDULE FOR A HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

This seasonal skilled labor position works 6 days a week from 7 AM to 5 PM. Some Sunday work will be required if a north wind day occurs during the week. Overtime work is frequently available.
