Position Description for HR/Payroll (Junior Level)
Telework
Office Location: Waldorf MD

Responsible for processing day-to-day Human Resource / Payroll functions, including but not limited to recruiting, benefits administration, and personnel management. The ideal candidate will serve as a vital resource for employees and managers and should strive to promote a positive image and always maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
Assist in developing and implementing personnel policies and procedures
Assist with employee benefits related to plan renewal and open enrollment, benefits enrollment and termination, troubleshooting employee benefits issues, and customer service aspect of benefits oversight
Assist in processing and reconciling payroll, 401k, health benefits, and commuter benefit regularly
Ensure confidentiality of all information
Ensure the quality work of HR vendors supporting our organization through meetings, training, evaluation, ongoing supervision, and consistent communications
Provide recruiting support, to include posting job advertisements, screen/review resumes, coordinate interviews, process pre-employment background and reference checks, assemble new employee packages, and conduct new hire onboarding.
Assists in maintaining department financial records, maintains and reconciles account ledgers, processes transaction corrections, prepares documentation for payment, and assists with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Assists with budgets, prepares financial reimbursements, reconciles billing documents, maintains records and follow-up information, gives clerical support, and oversees timekeeping and payroll distribution.
Performs timekeeping and payroll distribution functions, maintains employee information, and prepares labor reallocations.
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 2 - 4 years’ prior experience in a human resources function required
  • Knowledgeable in ADP Workforce Now, required
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
  • General knowledge of federal and state employment regulations to ensure compliance
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information, and act with tact and diplomacy in sensitive situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities
  • Detail Oriented
  • Records retention and document management experience
  • Bilingual in English / Spanish preferred, not required
