Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Human Resources Generalist to be based out of our Electrical Cable & Flexible Conduit facility in New Bedford, MA. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this person’s primary focus will be to undertake a wide array of HR tasks in order to support our HR department in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in human resources. Plant-level HR experience highly preferred. Experience in labor relations preferred. Experience in lean manufacturing or a business system-based company is a plus.

What you'll do:

  • Manage talent acquisition process for salaried and hourly roles including recruiting, screening, interviewing and onboarding.
  • Provide tools and support to help management teams drive engagement and alignment (culture) amongst their employees.
  • Provide coaching to supervisors regarding employee relations, difficult conversations, and process improvements.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and report out on findings as needed.
  • Be the main point of contact to employees for all benefits, pay, and HR related questions.
  • Drives Engagement and Alignment (cultural) initiatives for the facility. Assists with planning and organizing plant events.
  • Support and drive process improvements for Atkore-wide people-related programs and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with employment related laws (EEO, OSHA, FLSA, ADAAA, FMLA, etc.).
  • Handle employee relations counseling, performance management and exit interviewing.
  • Provide support for other projects either locally driven or Atkore-wide.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant Human Resources experience, or proven experience and high performance as an HR Generalist. Plant-level HR experience highly preferred.
  • Experience in labor relations preferred.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing or a business system-based company is a plus.
  • People-oriented and results-driven.
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company; ability to get along well with a variety of personalities and individuals.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organization.
  • Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner.

Within 3 months, you'll:

  • Complete your Atkore immersion program.
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy.
  • Gain and understanding of your tole, the HR organization, and the organization you support.
  • Gain and understanding of the training materials and procedures your team owns.

Within 6 months, you'll:

  • Establish strong working relationships with the leadership team you support as well as build rapport with employees.
  • Be leading the recruitment process for the salaried and hourly openings at your site.
  • Identify opportunities to improve standard processes in employee and labor relations.
  • Identify ways to strengthen the team's commitment to Atkore's core values of Accountability, Teamwork, integrity, Respect, and Excellence.

Within 12 months, you'll:

  • Have meaningful performance conversations and coaching sessions with your site leaders.
  • Perform as backup to Human Resources Manager for site.
  • Be able to resolve any issues quickly and safely.
