The Department of General Services, Environmental Control Center, is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated person with the required experience to work as a HVAC Refrigeration Maintenance Mechanic to operate the central chiller plant serving the Capitol Complex. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an HVAC Refrigeration Maintenance Mechanic, you will perform a variety of routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HVAC and refrigeration system components according to a prescribed set of instructions as well as monitoring system operation and performance within DGS owned or managed facilities.

You will be expected to access, navigate, and monitor the Automated Logic, Johnson Controls, Delta, and/or Siemens building automation systems to monitor equipment performance, receive alarm messages and provide proper notifications in the following fashion:

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours vary; 7.5 hours/day with 30-minute lunch.
  • Essential Employee - Required to work during emergencies and office closings.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems, units, and equipment; or
  • Completion of a three year Vo-Tech training program in refrigeration, HVAC, or building automation and six months experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems, related digitally controlled equipment, or BA systems; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration equipment.
Necessary Special Requirements:
  • All employees must obtain EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification types 1, 2, and 3, from an approved provider within 6 months of employment.
  • This position requires possession of a valid Non-commercial Class C Driver’s License.
