POSITION: Immigrant Parent Liaison

COMPENSATION: $8800 for 295 hours total ($30/hr). This is a year round position

SUMMARY: Acts as liaison between immigrant families, the school district, and community; implements strategies and activities to build the capacity of families to be active participants in the education of their children.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Serves as a liaison between immigrant parents, the district, and community.
  • Assists parents in school registration process.
  • Provides the coordination, technical assistance, and other support necessary to assist families.
  • Plan and promote strategies to support successful school and family interactions.
  • Assists parents with school and community information and guidance in school/district procedures; helps families understand district/schools policies and procedures, standards, assessments, student test scores, and report cards.
  • Prepares monthly calendar, newsletter, fliers, and letters to parents/guardians.
  • Participates in the district ELPAC to collaborate with members to organize activities/events to educate and support parents.
  • Works to enhance communication between school and home; arranges for translation services for meetings, conferences, telephone calls, and written documentation when needed.
  • Provides information to families regarding public and private resources available.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be proficient in verbal and written communication in multiple languages.
  • Must be able to learn and proficiently use various technology platforms used for school to home communication.
  • Must have adequate computer skills and must be able to adapt to various computer software such as Microsoft Publisher, Excel, Word, G Suite, etc.
  • Experience translating and coordinating events/activities preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
