SUMMARY: This position works directly with all phases of Injection molding including startup, operation and maintenance of machines, automated conveying systems, auxiliary equipment, air compressors, liquid chillers, and robotic parts removal. This position also serves as back-up for Molding Manager and support for other Technicians.

We currently have 2nd shift opportunities available. These are 12-hour shifts with an alternating schedule and working hours are 7 to 7. The alternating work week schedule includes every other weekend (36 hours one week/48 hours the next).

$22 per hour starting pay for Level I Technicians. Hourly rate of pay will increase depending on experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Conduct operations in accordance with safety requirements.

Responsible for loading molds onto machine platens and sets up machines to run quality parts.

Responsible for process development of new molds and process optimization of existing molds including all necessary paperwork.

Serves as back-up for Molding Manager as needed.

Provides support to less tenured Technicians as required.

Can start all plant equipment from a cold shutdown, including molding machines, robots, chillers, air compressors, material handlers/conveying equipment, air conditioning units, and the process monitoring system.

Ensures that assigned machines are operating within established parameter and control limits and that parts conform to established specifications.

Ensures molding room is clean on their shift. Will report any problems to Molding Manager.

Performs minor tooling maintenance and repairs

Ensure all machines, robots, and secondary equipment is working properly each day.

Reports all appropriate machine problems/issues to Molding Manager.

Make sure stocked items such as spare parts don’t run out. Troubleshoots mold problems and modify molding processes.

Startup all department equipment from cold start or standby.

Ensures all facets of the quality and manufacturing systems are followed and adhered to.

Assists with routine plant maintenance activities, including: molding machine/robot preventive maintenance (PM), barrel/screw change-outs, material conveying system (PM), facility auxiliary equipment, etc.

Completes tooling maintenance log and works closely with tool shop to ensure molds are in optimal condition.

Assists in equipment installations, project preparations, and project completion.

Works with a minimum of supervision.

Maintains a clean work area and follows proper safety procedures.

Arrives at work on time and complies with company attendance and tardiness policies.

Possess ability to get along with co-workers, customers, and company visitors.

Performs other duties assigned by Management.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associates Degree or Technical School Certificate with 2 to 3 years’ experience in machine maintenance or mechanical aptitude; or High school diploma or equivalent (GED) with 4 to 5 years technical or machine maintenance experience (on the job training); or a combination of education and experience and/or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and understand complex instructions such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to carry out detailed, complex oral or written instructions. Ability to apply problem solving techniques to address complex issues.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to work in a team. Understand machine functions and troubleshoot effectively.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and hearing protection is required on the manufacturing floor unless posted otherwise. Due to the nature of the materials used in the facility, provided hairnets must be worn at all times on the manufacturing floor. Most jewelry, false fingernails and fingernail polish (even clear coat) are prohibited. Beard covers, if applicable, may be required. Protective eyewear is required to be worn at all times when entering the molding work environment.
