Summary:
The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for delivering an outstanding customer experience through the processing and support of order management and quotation activities. The ISR supports an outside sales force as well as internal departments, working collaboratively to deliver customer value. Additionally, the ISR evaluates and participates in improving internal processes to reduce waste, improve speed, and enhance customer outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as front-line contact for assigned accounts, taking ownership for the customer experience; contribute to management of team-supported accounts and transaction load sharing to ensure department efficiency.
- Receive and process customer purchase orders. Execute contract review for technical and commercial terms, ensuring alignment with quotations and actioning or negotiating as required. Translate customer requirements for specifications and quality into work instructions for supporting departments.
- Manage customer complaints and returns as required and ensure customer follow-ups from supporting departments are timely and complete.
- Develop and deliver customer quotations with support from engineering department when required. Review historical prices and costs; apply pricing methodologies to create commercial positions.
- Participate in team management of workload and monitoring of work queues to achieve department targets and ensure speed of response to customers.
- Demonstrate initiative in reviewing departmental and cross-departmental processes; drive development of solutions to reduce waste and improve speed.
- Record and analyze internal obstacles and problem areas; participate in applying continuous improvement tools to address such areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of four years’ experience in a customer service role supporting the sale of manufactured goods.
- Associate's Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Experience with process improvement using Lean/Continuous improvement tools.
- Demonstrated customer service aptitude with proven ability to build strong customer relationships.
- Aptitude for review and negotiation of complex customer contracts and terms.
- Attention to detail and a focus on accuracy in transaction processing.
- Experience with large scale ERP systems.
- Experience with government contracting and international trade (logistics, payment vehicles, Letters of Credit) desired.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is an office-based position, with very minimal travel required. There is potential for occasional visits to customers or to company manufacturing sites.
