Product Owner IV: $97,000.00 - $123,500.00

Instructional Systems Designer Product Owner Job Description

Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) Product Owners design and develop training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences. ISD Product Owners receive customer requirements, review course learning objectives, assess customer provided reference information, collect input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements, conduct skill assessments, recommend specific graphic media applications to enhance a course’s written content and lead junior Instructional Designers in the creation of contracted projects. ISD Product Owners consult with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum.


Product Owners work within our proprietary courseware editing tool, Beast Core, or with other course editing tools such as Adobe Captivate to develop training, establish metrics used to evaluate training effectiveness, collaborate with vendors to provide training materials or conduct training and coach trainers. Beast Code ISD Product Owners are the primary manage of contracted projects and are ultimately responsible for their assigned team of junior Instructional Designers’ work and delivering the project on-time. Product Owner employees (PO I – PO V) are based on a combination of experience, documented skills and formal education. Instruction Systems Designer Product Owners report to the Training Program Manager.


A Typical Day for an ISD Product Owner may include:

  • Plan and facilitate project meetings to align the project team to methods and goals and to track project tasks
  • Conduct product demonstrations during execution to gather customer feedback
  • Monitors task completion status to identify at risk project tasks and to develop mitigation plans
  • Manage their assigned team’s Jira board to communicate course requirements, deadlines and standards to team Instructional Designers.
  • Communicate schedule and changes to all stakeholders
  • Review customer requirements and recommend specific course design plans to meet customers needs within a given budget.
  • Creating course materials (Test Plans, Student Guides, Media, etc.) based on reference material and direction from senior management
  • Review integrated, product-specific course lessons and material for appropriate instructional flow and accuracy
  • Outline instructional content for Subject Matter Experts and Content Developers prior to course creation
  • Obtain user-level proficiency and in-depth understanding of Beast Code software, products and systems
  • Serve as final quality assurance for contracted courses before delivery to customer.

Beast Code Instructional Systems Designer Product Owner positions typically require a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. May require a project management certification. Product Owners typically have a source trade (Instructional Design, E-Learning Design, military experience etc).



Instructional Systems Designer Product Owner III

Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. May assume a team lead role of the work group. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Typically requires 4-7 years of related experience.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design Education OR
    • ATD Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD)
      • If the applicant does not have an ATD APTD certificate, they must complete within the first year of employment.
    • Adult Learning curriculum development or equivalent experience
  • Preferred certifications, skills or education
    • Adobe Captivate certification
    • Atlassian software suite experience
    • Master’s degree in Instructional Design or related field
    • Related experience


Instructional Systems Designer Product Owner IV

Work is highly independent. Assumes a team lead role of the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. Typically requires 7+ years of related experience.

    • ATD Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD)
      • If the applicant does not have an ATD APTD certificate, they must complete within the first year of employment.
    • Master’s degree in related field Instructional Design or related field
  • Preferred certifications, skills or education
    • Atlassian software suite experience
    • Adobe Captivate certification
    • State teaching certification
  • HTML/CSS3 certificate/experience

Instructional Systems Designer Product Owner V

Works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in “solution” or project goal terms. Provides a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Typically requires 10+ years of related experience.

    • ATD Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD)
    • Master’s degree in Instructional Design
    • Digital courseware editing tool certification

Other Requirements:

  • 100% in-office work. Work is classified and requires candidate to be on-site in Fort Walton Beach FL.
  • Due to the nature of our work, it is mandatory that you are a SINGLE-RESIDENCY U.S. Citizen and able to comply with Government regulations.
  • Ability to maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
  • Successfully complete a background check and maintain a valid USA driver’s license
