Job Summary:
The Inventory Control Manager will support the inventory control functions within the Finance Department. The Inventory Control Manager will be responsible for monitoring the accuracy of the inventory levels, maintaining records, identifying variances in inventory, resolving inventory issues, and providing solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy in inventory systems. This position will work closely with other departments as needed to ensure accurate and timely transmission of data in order to prepare financial statements and other reporting requirements.
Responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop all inventory control activities by creating department policies and procedures
- Establish plans and implement new or updated programs to enhance the inventory control function
- Interpret corporate policy to ensure internal compliance
- Conduct monthly, quarterly and annual closing of the inventory accounts
- Monitor and assist with cycle count activities (monthly, quarterly, annually) at stores and distribution centers, reconcile as appropriate
- Oversee account reconciliations including perpetual inventory, freight and duty clearing, UNICAP, and accrued receipts/inventory in transit
- Analyze gross margins by channels and divisions
- Research to identify opportunities to improve efficiency or implement new systems
- Analyze on hand inventory to assist in supporting the business to identify and manage distressed inventory
- Identify, research, and resolve inventory variance between the physical quantities and those in the system
- Report any inventory variances over the predetermined threshold to loss prevention to further research
- Monitor records to ensure all valid POs placed by the company are received at the correct location and correct in the system; research open POs to resolve as necessary
- Work closely with FP&A on inventory forecasting
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; master’s degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in inventory control or related areas
- APICS CPIM certification a plus
- Retail experience a plus
Skills and Behaviors:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with excellent skills in Excel
- Proficient in SAP, Cognos
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
